The Met Gala 2026: Fashion, But Make It Art (and we are a obsessed)

It’s officially that time of year again, the first Monday in May, where we in the office and the whole internet collectively pauses grabs a matcha, and judges outfits like it’s a full-time job! The Met Gala is back, and 2026 did not come to play.

This year’s theme? “Fashion Is Art”... and honestly, everyone took that personally. Think sculptural silhouettes, cinematic references, and outfits that felt less like dresses and more like full-blown installations.

So naturally… we’re here for it.

The Vibe: Fashion = Art = Main Character Energy

If 2025 was about serving looks, 2026 was about telling love stories. The red carpet turned into a gallery of walking artworks, from exaggerated body forms to dramatic textures that blurred the line between fashion and sculpture.

The looks we can’t stop thinking about… Let’s get into it, the outfits that had us zooming, saving, and immediately sending to the group chat.

The Sculptural Girls

We saw corsetry, metallic structures, and silhouettes that didn’t just fit the body… they reshaped it. Think futuristic, bold, and slightly unhinged (in the best way).

The Soft But Dramatic Energy

Flowing fabrics, romantic draping, and pieces that felt like they belonged in a museum. Delicate but still making a statement.

The “Wait… Is That Even Fabric?” Moments
From unexpected materials to full illusion pieces, this year was all about pushing what fashion *can* be.

Our Biggest Crush: Sabrina Carpenter

Okay… we need a moment.

Sabrina Carpenter didn’t just attend, she owned the carpet.

She showed up in a custom Dior look made from actual film strips (yes, real film), referencing the 1954 movie *Sabrina* and giving full Old Hollywood meets modern icon.

Like… she didn’t just understand the assignment, she rewrote it.

The look was: Cinematic, Nostalgic, Slightly dramatic (we love) and completely unforgettable

Add in the vintage-inspired hair, soft glam makeup, and a little sparkle moment… yeah, we’re officially obsessed.

If “main character energy” was a dress, this was it.

OMG... and then the after party...

Just when you think it’s over… it’s not. The afterparties brought a whole second wave of looks, slightly more relaxed, but still very much *fashion people doing the most*.

So… What are we taking from this?

The Met Gala always sets the tone and this year made one thing very clear:

Fashion isn’t just what you wear.
It’s how you express, experiment, and romanticise your life a little bit more.

And honestly? We’re into it.

So whether you’re dressing up for an event or just putting together your everyday fit, take notes:

Be a little extra
Try something unexpected
And if it feels like art… you’re doing it right.
